Day 1
Arrival
Early morning arrival in Khartoum and transfer to your hotel for check-In. After breakfast we will start a city tour in Khartoum to visit the National Museum housing the salvaged temples of Upper Nubia and the frescoes from the cathedral of Faras. Afterwards proceed to the Ethnographical Museum. Lunch in a local restaurant (optional) afterwards we will make a fantastic trip on the Nile using a motor boat to the confluence of Blue and White Nile (About 1 hour). Dinner and overnight in your hotel.
Day 2
Khartoum Naga Musawwarat As Sufra - Meroe
After early breakfast we will leave the hotel using 4x4 Cars to northward passing the rapids of the sixth cataract. On to the ancient cultic centre of Nagaa with the Meroitic temple of Amun, the Roman chapel and the lion temple, then proceed to Musawarat As-Sufra 20 km, an extensive temple area. Afterwards continue to the small town of Shendi, 80 km, and onwards 30 km to Meroe. Visit the largest pyramid cemetery of the Nile valley dozens of black Pyramids rise from the desert sands. Dinner and overnight in front of the Pyramids of Meroe. (B/L/D)
Day 3
Meroe - Damer - Bayouda Desert- Deir Ghazali
Early in the morning we have a free time to take a stroll and photograph the Pyramids. Then we drive to El Damer 100 km, crossing the Nile to Umm Tuyur on the west bank. Afterwards we drive through the Bayouda desert for 400 km. Dinner and overnight in tents near Deir Ghazali.(B/L/D)
Day 4
Deir Ghazali Nuri - El Kurru - Jebel Barkal
After breakfast we visit to the ancient monastery of Deir Ghazali, then drive to Nuri, 25 km to visit the cemetery containing the Pyramids of the 26th dynasty, including the Pharaoh Taharqa. Afterwards drive to Karima and crossing the Nile to visit the necropolis of el-Kurru, 18 km. The subterranean tomb of King Tanwet Amany is decorated in the classical Pharaonic style. Drive to Jebel Barkal, 18 km. and Dinner and overnight in tents. (B/L/D)
Day 5
Jebel Barkal Kawa Kerma Tumbus
Climbing up Jebel Barkal and afterwards visit to the great temple of Amun of Napata dating back to the 12th century B.C. The temple was the most important religious centre of Kush. Afterwards drive through the Mehela desert to Kawa to visit a temple of the Kushite period, and then to Kerma, now a small town surrounded by groves of date - palm and guava. Recent archaeological researches have shown that Kerma civilization is clearly the earliest on the Sub-Saharan African soil ( 3000 - 2800 B.C ). The "Diffufa", large mud brick constructions slightly younger than the Giza Pyramids, were probably tombs. Dinner and overnight in camp near Tumbus.
Day 6
Tumbus Messaida Sesebi - Soleb
In the morning visit to hieroglyphic inscriptions and a recumbent statue of King Taharqa in the granite quarries of Tumbus. Afterwards drive to a nearby hill to visit the ancient church at Messaida. Proceed via Delgo to Sesebi, a military outpost of pharaoh Akhenaton. In the afternoon you will see the temple of Soleb, a Nubian copy of the temples of the Egyptian New Kingdom, with pillars reminiscent of Luxor temple. Dinner and Overnight in tents. (B/L/D)
Day 7
Soleb Sdeinga Sai Soleb
After breakfast drive to Sdeinga, 50 km and visit to the temple dedicated to Queen Ti, the mother of Akhenaton. Afterwards boat trip to the island of Sai, 40 km, with settlement ruins from old Nubian, Pharaonic and Christian periods. Afterwards return to Soleb for dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 8
Soleb Dongola
After breakfast drive south via Darb Al Arbaeen, the legendary caravan trail of the forty days to Dongola al Ghaba to cross the river again. Overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 9
Old Dongola Khartum - Omdurman
Visit to Old Dongola formerly the capital of the Christian kingdom of Makuria. Visit to the citadel and the remains of a cathedral. Afterwards drive through the Bayouda desert to Omdurman and visit the tomb of the Mahdi and the colourful local market. Afterwards proceed to Khartoum, transfer to your hotel for dinner and short rest till departure time.
Day 10
Departure
Very early in the morning transfer to the airport for final departure.
